Arriving at the Airport
We welcome and farewell thousands of travellers and visitors every day at Auckland Airport and have a variety of services and facilities available to make your trip a little easier.
The airlines operating from Auckland Airport offer wheelchair and mobility assistance to help guests with access needs. If you have limited mobility, other physical or hidden disabilities it is important that you inform your airline and speak to them about the kind of assistance, you need. Please do this when you book your flight or at least 48 hours before you start your journey. This will help ensure that your airline is able to provide you with the right support within the airport terminal and onboard the aircraft.
Concierge Service
You can book the services of your own personal Airport Concierge. Our Concierge can provide a helping hand by carrying your bags, providing strollers for little ones, and assisting with booking onward transport from the airport.
You can book in advance online. Our Concierge service is designed to work in conjunction with special assistance provided by your airline and is in no way intended to replace services.
Hidden Disabilities
Auckland Airport proudly participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme. This means that those with a hidden disability can wear a Sunflower Lanyard to let our team know that you may require some help while you’re at Auckland Airport.

How do I get to Auckland Airport?
There are many transport options available for getting to and from Auckland Airport. We recommend you give yourself plenty of time when travelling to and from the airport to allow for any delays.
Ensure you arrive at least three hours before your international flight or one hour before your domestic flight.

I’m driving to Auckland Airport, where do I park?
We have several parking options if you are driving to Auckland Airport. To help make your journey easier, we recommend you choose and book your parking online ahead of your travels. Online bookings are usually better value and will ensure you reserve your spot during busy periods.

International mobility valet parking
A mobility valet service is available for travellers with Mobility Parking Permits. This is the same product as valet parking however at a reduced cost to ensure there is always spaces available close to the terminal.
Pre book online, then park your car at the Auckland Airport Valet in the new Transport Hub .
Follow the signage to Auckland Airport Valet and enter the Transport Hub underneath the Auckland Airport Valet Gantry. You can stop in any of the valet lanes and begin unloading. If you need assistance after arriving, please let the staff in the booth know. There is also an electric buggy available to assist you to the terminal from the valet booth.
Our valet team are familiar with and trained in the operation of adapted vehicles so you can have confidence when leaving your vehicle with us.

International valet parking
International valet is inside the Transport Hub. Please book online and follow the signage and pull into a lane in front of the valet office. Pick-up your vehicle when you return from the same location.

Domestic valet parking
The domestic valet is in the multi-storey car park just outside the terminal. There are elevators located close to the valet booth that go to the ground level. View our maps here.
You can drop-off and pick-up your vehicle from the same location. Please follow the signage as you head towards the domestic terminal, go to level one, and pull into one of the marked lanes in front of the valet office. As the valet area is inside a building the maximum vehicle height is 2.2m, it's not suitable for high roof vans. If you wish to park a high roof van with the domestic valet, please call us when you make your booking so our team can arrange to meet you in the forecourt to pick-up and drop-off your vehicle.

Drop-off pick-up at the terminals
Domestic Terminal
Drop-off and pick-up spaces are provided on the outer road of the domestic terminal, including dedicated Mobility Spaces. If you require assistance and your driver needs to accompany you into the terminal, please speak with one of the forecourt attendants before leaving your vehicle. Vehicles cannot be left unattended in this area and they will direct your driver to leave their vehicle at a location close by.
International Terminal:
Transport Hub is where all members of the public can be dropped off and picked up from the “Public drop-off and pick-up. For more information on how to get to the Transport Hub, please see here.
There are accessible spaces at the front of the public lane drop-off and pick-up lane, located approximately 65 meters from the departure zone entrance. These are marked in blue with the wheelchair symbol.
Assistance Buggy:
We are trialing an electric buggy service that departs from the Transport Hub from two dedicated meeting points, located between Zone 8 and 9 and near the accessible spaces at the front of the drop off and pick up lanes.
It rotates between entrance 6 (departures), and entrance 8 (arrivals), then back to the transport hub. The service is supplied by two Accessible Buggies, operating at a 15min rotation throughout the day. Priority will be given to travellers with permanent or temporary mobility needs.
The Wait Zone
Located just a few minutes drive from both terminals, The Wait Zones help make pick-ups a lot easier. Call or text when you are ready to be picked up, your driver can simply exit The Wait Zone and drive around to the drop-off pick-up area in front of the terminals – just a short drive away. Drivers are allowed 30 minutes free parking at The Wait Zones.

If I need to be escorted into the terminal where does my driver park?
At the domestic terminal, your driver will drop you off at the forecourt near entrance C. Your driver can then help take you inside the terminal.
At the international terminal there is paid P60 short term parking available inside the Transport Hub, the entry is at the end of the drop-off pick-up lane. This is the closest parking to the terminal if you want to assist or accompany someone to or from the international terminal. Entry is via license plate recognition and there are pay machines inside the Transport Hub near Zone 6 or there is payWave available at the exit barrier. If this P60 is unavailable please speak to one of the traffic wardens who will be able to advise on where you can leave your vehicle
If my flight is delayed, where does my driver wait?
The Wait Zone
Located just a few minutes drive from both terminals, The Wait Zones help make pick-ups a lot easier. Call or text when you are ready to be picked up, your driver can simply exit The Wait Zone and drive around to the drop-off pick-up area in front of the terminals – just a short drive away. Drivers are allowed 30 minutes free parking at The Wait Zones). For more information about The Wait Zones, see here.
Waits longer than 30 minutes will be charged at the same drive-up rate as car park K, and will require a debit or credit card payment on exit.

What other accessible transport options are there?
The Auckland Transport website is where you’ll find everything you need to know about getting around Auckland on buses, trains and ferries.
Use the Auckland Transport online journey planner to plan your journey. It will advise what routes are available, and provide times, fares and maps for your trips.
AirportLink
The AirportLink buses operate between Manukau Bus Station, Puhinui Station Interchange and Auckland International Airport. The AirportLink service also connects to the Southern and Eastern rail lines at Papatoetoe. If you are travelling on an Intercity service, you can also catch the AirportLink to the airport from Manukau where there is a connection point.
The AirportLink stops at bus stops located on the forecourt outside the domestic terminal, and from Bus Stop A at the Transport Hub at the international terminal.
This service uses Wheelchair Accessible Buses which are specially designed to accommodate wheelchairs.

SkyDrive Bus
Operating from Auckland City Centre, the SkyDrive fleet has kneel suspension and boarding ramps to allow easy access. Every bus has a designated space where wheelchairs can be safely secured and welcome aboard service dogs.
Most of the SkyDrive fleet accommodates passengers with access meeds. They have low floors with the ability to kneel to meet the kerb edge or available ramps to assist passengers with wheelchairs. There is space in the bus for up to two wheelchairs. Ramps allow easy access for most mobility device users. The driver would manually fold these out.
Our drivers would be happy to accept your pre-booked tickets for a later service if the coach you have booked for doesn’t meet your needs.

The buses depart from outside the terminal door at the domestic terminal, and bus stop E outside the Transport Hub at the International terminal.
You can book online prior to the date of travel.
Intercity Bus
The Intercity Bus Service operates services from cities around the north island to and from Auckland Airport. The bus fleet have low floors and can kneel on request. All intercity buses have ramps or lifts and have designated securement areas for mobility devices.
The Intercity busses can be located at Stop E next to the transport hub for the international terminal or Stop C on the forecourt of the Domestic terminal.

Taxis & shuttles
Auckland Airport licenses specific taxi and shuttle companies to ensure airport visitors and travellers receive a high standard of service.
All taxi and shuttle companies can drop you off at the airport, however only licensed companies are able to pick you up from the designated taxi ranks at the terminal buildings.

International terminal:
At the Transport Pick-Up Zone at the International terminal.
There is also a free bus that leaves from a stop outside entrance 11 look for the blue bus to the Transport Pick up Zone and Car Parks D and E. This service runs every 15 minutes between 05h00-23h00.
There is also a pre-booked commercial accessible pick up/drop off zone by door 11. This area can be accessed by commercial operators with prior authorisation when carrying passengers with access needs. Please instruct your operator to email us at customercare@aucklandairport.co.nz with time, date, vehicle registration and your total mobility number to get authorisation.
Domestic terminal:
Outside door 4 at the domestic terminal.
You can pre-book with one of the companies listed below or just turn up at the terminal ranks – taxis and shuttles are always available.

Total mobility transport providers
Several taxi and shuttle bus companies that service the airport are members of the Total Mobility scheme and provide wheelchair hoists. Reserved Total Mobility drop-off and pick-up spaces are provided on the forecourt road of both the international and domestic terminals.

Rideshare
Domestic terminal: Uber Assist and the comfort pick-up lane are in the domestic forecourt, lane three. Rideshare providers such as Uber are in the rideshare lane.
International terminal: in the Transport Pick-up Zone. There is a free bus that leaves from a stop outside entrance 11. Look for the blue bus to the Tranpsort Pick up Zone and Car Parks D and E. This service runs every 15 minutes between 05h00-23h00.

Freedom mobility
Freedom Mobility offer an extensive range of modified cars and vans for disabled drivers and disabled travellers throughout New Zealand. Their team can meet you off your flight at Auckland Airport in the arrivals area and take you directly to a specialist rental car.

How do I transfer between terminals?
Speak to your airline directly if you need assistance to transfer between terminals as they will be able to assist you best.
Terminal transfer bus
A free terminal transfer bus service operates every 15 minutes from 0500 to 2300 between bus stop B at the Transport Hub at the International terminal, and bus stop C on the forecourt at the Domestic terminal. All buses are accessible. For more information on schedules is available here.
Outdoor pathway - the green line
Alternatively, follow the sign posted pathway between terminals if you have some time and prefer some fresh air. The journey will take 10-15 minutes and is marked by a green line on the as well as green supergraphics with "Domestic terminal" and an arrow to the path.
What time do I need to arrive at the airport?
Allow yourself plenty of time prior to your flight departure to check-in, clear security and get to your gate.
International flights
In most instances, check-in counters for international flights open three (3) hours prior to departure. If you want to be sure, please check with your airline directly.
Domestic flights
Most check-in counters for domestic flights open 90 minutes prior to departure.
If you arrive early, don’t worry, the terminals offer some great services and facilities, whether it's finding a last minute gift, a bite to eat, or just settling in for some ‘me time’.
In both terminals you’ll find:
